Virtu Cycling Group takes over the Danish agency of Sportful and Castelli

Virtu Cycling Group expands its portfolio of companies and brands to include cycling clothing. The group takes over the Danish agency of the Italian brands Sportful and Castelli in a new newly created company Virtu Cycling Gear. 

Bjarne Riis, Lars Seier Christensen and Jan Bech Andersen once again expand the portfolio of companies and brands in Virtu Cycling Group, the trios group based on activities related to cycling.
Virtu Cycling Group takes with immediate effect over the Danish agency of the Italian quality brands Sportful and Castelli and the group of owners takes a step into the market of cycling- and team wear with an ambition to be a strong actor.

The agency of the two brands are organized in a new string within Virtu Cycling Group in the newly created company Virtu Cycling Gear. Per Bausager steps in as CEO in Virtu Cycling Gear after he has had the agency of Sportful and Castelli in Denmark as a family project for many years.

“In Virtu Cycling Group we had long had the ambition to integrate one or multiple clothing brands of high quality in our group. In this process it has been obvious to look towards Sportful and Castelli from Italy. I have worked closely with Sportful for many years, as they have supplied my teams with cycling clothing and we have been a part of developing their products as well. We know each other well and I know the high quality of the clothing and the great design. I also know Per Bausager and I am really looking forward to, that we will benefit from his skills in the newly created company. I think it is a really exciting development, that makes perfect sense in many ways,” Bjarne Riis says.

The takeover of the agency of Sportful and Castell, means that Sportful becomes supplier of clothing for the two cycling teams in the group as well as Virtu Business Club. Virtu Cycling Gear will challenge the market of cycling clothing for leisure riders and for team clothing and Per Bausager looks forward to that challenge.

“I think that Virtu Cycling Group is an ambitious and visionary creation, and I’m excited to be a part of it. Strategic it is the right move by Sportful and Castelli. It is necessary to think new with the disruption of the sales channels we experience these days and as a part of the Virtu-family the door is opened to be available everywhere.
